Carmel ceilings and walls

Finished ceilings in an upstairs hallway, stairwell, and entryway. I also put two coats of "Ancient Marble" in a flat finish on the walls and touched up the stained trim. Painting ceilings in a high stairwell takes additional measures for safety and getting to the top. I brought in my 12 foot ladder along with levelers in order to get to the higher areas.


Steps:

1. Removed electrical plates;
2. Sanded walls;
3. Washed the walls with simple green; 
4. Spackled all the holes and nicks in the walls;
5. Masked out floors with durable paper in order to keep any drips off the carpet and wood floors;
6. Lightly sanding all areas spackled;
7. Painted ceilings;
8. Taped out baseboards and door trim;
9. Applied first coat on walls - let dry;
10. Applied second coat on walls;
11. Pulled tape and masking paper;
12. Did touch-ups requested;
13. Cleaned up and presented to customer.

Noblesville Interior Home

Just finished prepping and painting an entire home located in Noblesville. I put two coats of eg-shell on all the walls in two colors - Kilim Beige and Divine White. I did paint one bedroom in a blue color. I also painted both sides of a new steel front door. This was my largest painting project and it took me eight days.


Steps:

1. Removed electrical plates;
2. Sanded walls;
3. Spackled a lot of nail pops and other small holes;
4. Washed walls;
5. Taped out baseboards, door trim, and other trim;
6. Applied first coat on walls - let dry;
7. Lightly sanded walls between coats;
8. Applied second coat on walls;
9. Pulled tape and masking paper;
10. Did touch-ups on ceiling, trim, and walls; 
11. Painted both sides of the front steel door;
12. Cleaned up.

Fishers bedroom and pantry

Finished a bedroom and closet, laundry room, and miscellaneous touch-ups in Fishers on Tuesday. In both the bedroom and laundry room, I painted the ceiling and walls. When I got to the job, the customer had a half dozen other touch-ups - including the closet -  that she asked if I could complete and I agreed.


Steps:

1. Removed electrical plates;
2. Sanded walls;
3. Washed the walls with simple green;
4. Filled a lot of fairly large holes created when the wire shelves were removed from the laundry room and the bedroom closet. I had to fill several times in order to ensure they didn't show once I applied the eg-shell;
5. Masked out entire floor with durable paper in order to keep any drips off the carpet in the bedroom and the tile floor in the laundry room;
6. Painted ceilings;
7. Painted trim in laundry room;
8. Taped out baseboards, door trim, and other trim;
9. Applied first coat on walls - let dry;
10. Applied second coat on walls;
11. Pulled tape and masking paper;
12. Did touch-ups requested;
13. Cleaned up and presented to customer.

Fishers bedroom and bathroom

Finished a bedroom and bathroom in Fishers on Wednesday. I prepped and applied two coats of eg-shell in a gray color (Sherwin Williams' Mineral Deposit) on the walls only.


Steps:

1. Removed electrical plates;
2. Sanded walls;
3.  Masked out floor with 12 inch paper and additional heavier paper;
4. Spackled a lot of nail pops and other small holes;
5. Washed walls;
6. Taped out baseboards, door trim, and other trim;
7. Applied first coat on walls - let dry;
8. Applied second coat on walls;
9. Pulled tape and masking paper;
10. Did touch-ups on ceiling, trim, and walls;
11. Cleaned up.

Carmel master bedroom

Finished a master bedroom in Carmel on Tuesday. I prepped and applied two coats of eg-shell in a gray color on the walls only. I also painted part of the sunken ceiling.  The customer supplied the paint - Lowe's Valspar Signature Interior.


Steps:

1. Removed electrical plates;
2. Sanded walls;
3. Washed walls;
4. Taped out baseboards and door trim;
5. Taped out main ceiling because it was a flat ceiling;
6. Masked out floor with 12 inch paper and additional heavier paper;
7. Applied first coat on walls - let dry;
8. Applied first coat to sunken ceiling;
9. Applied second coat on walls;
10. Applied second coat on sunken ceiling;
11. Pulled tape and masking paper;
12. Moved furniture back in place; and
13. Did touch-ups on ceiling, trim, and walls;
14. Cleaned up. 

Challenges:
I also painted part of the sunken ceiling in order to break up the white. This was a challenge because I had to keep paint off the rest of the ceiling.

Fishers bedroom

Finished a small bedroom in Fishers on Tuesday. I prepped and applied two coats of satin in a blue color to the walls only.  The customer supplied the paint - Lowe's Valspar Signature Interior Satin.

Steps:

1. Moved most of the furniture out of room;
2. Removed electrical plates;
3. Sanded walls;
4. Washed walls;
5. Taped out baseboards and door trim;
6. Masked out floor with 12 inch paper;
7. Applied first coat to walls - let dry;
8. Applied second coat to walls;
9. Pulled tape and masking paper;
10. Did touch-up to walls and trim;
11. Moved furniture back in place; and
12. Cleaned up.

Challenges:
Moving furniture around in order to get to the walls.

Fishers large interior painting project

I just finished a painting project for a customer who is putting her house up for sale. I have done various other painting for this customer over the past three years and she called me when she needed to repaint the rest of her rooms. I painted her master bathroom, guest bathroom, entryway, living room, dining room, office, hallways, and laundry room. I also pressure washed her deck and outside entryway and touched up a lot of the trim and ceilings at no cost. So this was a large project and took me four days to complete by myself.

For the walls, I used Sherwin Williams ProMar 200 in a flat sheen and the color was Kilim Beige for most of the rooms. I did use Soften Green for her master bath, which was the same color as her master bedroom that I painted three years ago.

Steps:

1. Sanded all the walls;
2. Washed all the walls;
3. Spackled all the holes and other dings;
4. Lightly sanded all the areas I spackled with 220 grade sandpaper;
5. Taped out all the trim in order to keep paint off the trim;
6. Applied first coat of paint and let dry for 4 hours;
7. Applied second coat of paint;
8. Pulled all the tape;
9. Touched up trim and ceilings around the house;
10. Vacuumed;
11. Pressure washed the deck and front outside entryway.

 Challenges:

1 - A lot of preparation including wall repair and cleaning;

2 - Furniture moving.
